Says co-star Imran Khan
After playing father to the lead girls (Krystle and Nia) in the cult show Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hain, Imran Khan is back again with Beyhadh as a father to Aneri Vajani’s character Saanjh.
Let’s find out more about his contentment with his role in the show.
Imran, what you play now is something we haven’t seen you play…your viewpoint.
When I was first offered Beyhadh, I was a little apprehensive because it was the heroine’s father’s role. I’m not even a father in real life, forget a grown up girl’s father! I was a little reluctant, but after a meeting with the production house I was convinced because this was a different and beautiful role. I play a father but not a typical one. Saanjh’s father could go to any lengths to protect his daughter. It is a beautiful father- daughter relationship. At the same time, he is very romantic with his wife.
Beyhadh is very off-beat and unconventional. What do you have to say about the fast paced story line of the show which makes it more likeable?
Beyhadh’s storyline is going at a very good pace unlike the other Indian television serials. We are very fortunate to be a part of such a show and that’s one of the reasons I chose to be a part of Beyhadh. Every character is very defined and there is no repetition of scenes. This is the USP – the story and all the characters are very strongly presented.
What do you have to say about the way shows are progressing today?
I wish and hope that other serials also follow this pace because we are very sick and tired of stale draggy serials. People like more off pacy serials just like Beyhadh.
How is your off-screen chemistry with the lead actors – Aneri Vajani, Kushal Tandon, Jennifer Winget?
Kushal is a fabulous guy and we share the same passion, body building. When we are not shooting we catch up and jog together. I have worked with him earlier as well in Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behena Hai and now we are working together again. It is wonderful to work with Kushal and I must say, he has improved a lot in terms of acting.
Jennifer needs no compliments! Guys from all over the country, in fact all over the world drool over her; she is like a dream girl for millions of guys. It’s a pleasure working with a disciplined actress like her. She is a very pretty girl and she is doing a great job.
Aneri is my darling! I have a lot of fun when she is around and my on-screen chemistry with her is one of the best I have come across so far. We share our lunches, we discuss our personal life and I am very comfortable with her. She must be in her early twenties, but she’s got a very sensible mind and has a big future gracing her.
Parting message.
We should have more serials like Beyhadh. I do not think any show should be dragged for 3 – 4 years or else the story loses its charm. Please wake up all the producers and channel heads and lets have some nice progressive shows the audience needs it! I don’t believe when people say that the audience likes the cliched stuff.
Apart from that, I have recently wrapped up shooting my film ‘Sarghoshiyan’. I have written it, produced and directed and acted in it as well. It stars Indraneil Sengupta, Hassan Zaidi, Sara Khan, Aditi Bhatia, Khalid Siddiqui, Alok Nath, Fareeda Jalal, Tom Alter, Shahbaz Khan and prominent Kashmiri actors.
Way to go Imran!
